West African state of the Islamic Republic of the Gambia as the country heads to the polls to elect a new president.
Yahya Jameh who came to power via a coup d'etat is slugging it out with the main opposition and does not hope to relinquish his hold on power after over two decades in power, 22 years to be precise making him the longest-serving head of government in the West African sub-region.
There is nationwide protest against Jameh's presidency but the leader of the West African state says although he is not the best but he is better than anyone they have in that country, one of the reasons why he has opted to stay on amid protests for him to step aside.
