Man Accused Of Deliberately Infecting Male Lovers With HIV Appears In Court

A hairdresser appeared in court yesterday charged with deliberately infecting male lovers with HIV. Daryll Rowe, 26, stood accused of seven counts of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and one count of attempted GBH.

The alleged offences were said to have happened between October 2015 and January 31 this year. The defendant, whose hair was dyed pink-grey, wore a blue hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms for the five minute hearing.

Gary Buckley, prosecuting, described Rowe as HIV positive. The offences were said to involve him sleeping with his alleged victims.

Angus Westgarth, defending, made no application for bail.

Rowe, of no fixed address but previously from Edinburgh, appeared before magistrates sitting at Newcastle Crown Court .

He did not enter pleas and was remanded in custody until January 23 to appear again before the same court.

Rowe was told his case is likely to be transferred to Sussex before that date.
