Super Eagles Star Donates N1 Million To Protesting Falcon Players

Super Eagles midfield star, Ogenyi Onazi has identified with players of the senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, by donating the sum of one million Naira as they continue to protest in Abuja.

This is coming after the reigning African champions took to the streets of the nation’s capital, Abuja in furtherance of their protest on Wednesday after which the presidency assured of them of clearing their entitlements on Friday (today).

Africanfootball.com reports a source close to the team as saying Onazi, who currently plies his trade in the Turkish top flight with Trabzonspor, felt empathy for what the ladies are passing through and decided to step in.

Onazi is a fantastic man and supported the Falcons with the sum of one million Naira, that really helped the ladies,” the source reported.

“He also gave one of the injured players N200,000 for her treatment.

“He is a wonderful guy. I was aware some of the girls called him to complain about their plight and he helped them.”

Moments after his budget presentation to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari, through his Chief of Staff Abba Kyari, directed the Ministry of Finance to settle all salaries/allowances of the team today following the inability of the cash-strapped Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to do so.

The ladies are reportedly being owed $16, 500 each for winning a record-extending eighth women’s AFCON in Cameroon.
