The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, read the letter of President Muhammadu Buhari, re-nominating the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, as the substantive Chairman of the Commission.
Buhari, in the letter, urged the Senate to please accept Magu’s nomination, and reconsider him.
Saraki read the letter after an over one hour closed session.
For over an hour, the Senators were in a secret meeting over the re-nomination of Magu.
It was stated that at the meeting which started around 10.42 am, some Senators expressed reservations on the communication of the President.
Recall, that the Senate had in December, 2016, rejected Magu’s nomination over the report of the Department of State Services, DSS, which indicted him.
