The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has on Wednesday, indirectly taken a swipe on the current political class, allegedly spearheaded by President Muhammadu Buhari, for lack of a great vision.
Tinubu, who stated this in Abuja, while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College, insisted that the current political class, has fallen short of providing the strategic political leadership, needed to hasten the course of development.
This came as the ruling APC, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, coupled with the yet of be registered mega party, continue to jostle for the 2019 Presidential seat, amidst political realignment.
Recall, that Tinubu had time without number, been accused of ‘eyeing’ the 2019 Presidency, as Buhari has failed to deliver the much awaited change mantra.
However, indirectly taking a swipe at Buhari, Tinubu said that a good leader must be faithful to whatever vision he espouses, in order to meet desired objectives.
“Excellent strategic political leadership, is based on commitment to a political vision. A leader must have a coherent objective in mind. Strategy and tactics, are then fashioned to work toward that vision.
“This is an essential consideration. There cannot be strategic leadership, without a conscious objective. Political leadership in Nigeria generally, has fallen short in this regard.
