Publisher of the National Trail Newspapers and Spokesman to former governor of Borno state, Senator (Dr.) Ali Modu Sheriff, Mr. Inuwa Bwala has cried out over an alleged plan to physically eliminate him
Bwala has been in detention for one week now over trumped up charges of mobilizing people from his community to assault Deputy Governor of Borno state, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, who was then the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation two years ago.
Bwala has alleged that good intelligence report today, Monday, revealed to him that one ACP Samuel Yomi, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Borno State was personally handling the plot to kill him.
In his text message to DAILY POST this morning, Mr. Bwala wrote: “I have it on good intelligence that these people are planning to murder me as they don’t have any clear case. Inuwa Bwala.”
Last week Friday, the Borno State Police Commissioner, Mr. Damian Chukwu confirmed to journalist in Maiduguri that, the former Commissioner for Information, Borno State, Mr. Inuwa Bwala was in his custody.
The CP said, “He was arrested in connection to a petition written against him by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa”.
According to the CP, Bwala’s arrest was pursuant to a Court Order issued by a Maiduguri High Court which said, Bwala along with several others still at large are to be arrested, because they were part of the accused persons who were allegedly involved in the attack on Usman Durkwa, the then Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation in Marama town in 2015 during the eve of the Presidential elections.
He said, Bwala is likely to be tried today, Monday, by the same Court that sentenced the five earlier accused for the same alleged offense.
Bwala, who is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in Maiduguri due to ill-health, has however, been informed of plans to assassinate, sending out a quick text message to inform his constituency in case he dies while in police custody.
