In the wake of Republicans trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare, and leaving millions of Americans uninsured with no replacement presented, President-elect Donald Trump took a sharp break from his party and presented another plan. Well, not so much a plan, as some words, but let’s dive in!
Offering no actual insight into how it would be accomplished, Trump says his plan to replace the nation’s health care law will include “insurance for everybody.”
In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump said, “We’re going to have insurance for everybody. There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”
Of course, Trump declined to reveal any details.
“It’s very much formulated down to the final strokes. We haven’t put it in quite yet but we’re going to be doing it soon,” he said.
Trump said he expects Congress to address the issue in the coming weeks.
Hmm. Maybe he’ll release the information “soon” along with other things he’s promised, like his tax returns, the information only he knows about Russia hacking the election, and the results of his investigation into President Obama’s birthplace. If you need me, I’ll be over here holding my breath. (Or not, because then I’d need health care!)
