JUST IN: Stop persecuting Church, clerics, OFM urges Buhari

The Omega Fire Ministry, Benin Branch has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the persecution and killing of Christians across churches in Nigeria as it would lead to total destruction of a once united country. The Edo state Head Pastor, Azemhe Azena, while briefing newsmen in Benin City on Wednesday, described the failed arrest of the President of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman as unconstitutional and condemnable and frowned at the senseless killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna State.
Azemhe wondered why President Buhari has remained mum on melting out justice to killers of Christians across the country stressing that that the principles of equality before the law and justices should be adhered to regardless of who is involved.
He, however, noted that the statement made by Apostle Suleman on herdsmen was over-polished lost its real meaning when it was translated to be a call to massacre herdsmen.
He explained that Apostle Suleman has engaged in self-sacrificing philanthropic gestures directly and indirectly to wither the plights of Nigerians who are suffering as a result of the lingering economic recession.

Azemhe urged followers and supporters not to be afraid as Apostle Suleman is Safe and will not be deterred by any attempt to stop the gospel from spreading.
He said: “All over the world, no responsible government ever makes religious leaders their object of attack, but they would rally round religious leaders to see how to forestall any crisis and foster unity. History has shown that when you make religious objects of attack, the repercussions are very grave.
“We are hereby calling on the Nigeria government to put a stop to senseless attacks on Christian leaders especially Apostle Johnson Suleman. These are leaders and beacons of hope whose integrity and teachings have kept this country in Unity and consistently given hope to millions of Nigerians.
Azemhe continued, “We also make bold to say that we shall employ all means whatsoever legally permissible to seek redress and defend ourselves and our Apostle should the presidency continue this senseless attack. It is unacceptable that the killers of the people are not been arrested but respected men of God are made object of attack by the institutions of government.

“We want to call on President Buhari to heed the call Nigerians and step-up in his leadership and protect the people. Stop the mindless killings going on daily basis across Nigeria. Stop the unwarranted persecution against the Church, the Christian Community and the wanton destruction of Churches advising that as a father of the nation, let your body language and your voice be visibly heard as leader of a united Nigeria”. He added.
