The Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, and Co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls Group, among others, are already in the dreaded Sambisa forest, aboard an Air Force jet, searching for the remaining missing Chibok Girls.
Earlier, the BBOG group had given the government some conditions, before it would join the trip, but it later honoured the invitation.
Recall, that after the arrival of the delegation, led by Lai Mohammed to Borno, on Monday, there was a twin bomb blast at a Mosque, orchestrated by an alleged 7-year old suicide bomber, leading to the death of a Professor and four others, at the University of Maiduguri.
“Lai Mohammed must have suffered a terrible heart attack, on hearing the news that a Boko Haram suicide bomber struck almost where he was. If not for the determination of Ezekwesili, who knows, Oga Lai could have turned back”, a social media commentator mocked.
On the search mission, the Chief Press Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Joseph Mutah, disclosed in a statement on Monday evening, saying: “The Federal Government team conducting the Bring Back Our Girls Group, and Journalists on a mission to Sambisa forest, have arrived Yola, the Adamawa State capital,” he said.
“The BBOG team, led by their Coordinator, Dr Oby Ezekweseli, was briefed at the Tactical Command Centre, Yola, by the Minister of Defence, Brig Gen Mansur Dan-Ali (Rtd); Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Chief of Air Staff, Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar; and other Operational Commanders.
“The Minister of Information and Culture, and that of Defence, thereafter led the BBOG team and Journalists to Sambisa forest, in Borno State, for the search of the abducted Chibok girls, using sophisticated cameras, fixed on two Air Force jets.”
