A close Aide to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, and the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC, Arch. Reuben Okoya, has withdrawn support for his former boss, and asked his kinsmen from the Niger Delta region, to exercise restraint and exhibit patience towards the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, for sustainable peace and development in the region.
Ochoya, said on Thursday, January 26, that though the indigenes of the Niger Delta region are peace loving people, and may have had a different interpretation of the body language from President Buhari, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and his team on the peace process, noted that there is the need for the Niger Delta people to exhibit patience, so that the present administration will initiate a sustainable policy for peace, security, and development.
Okoya, while speaking with Newsmen in Yenagoa, after the presentation of branded jerseys to the Bayelsa Queens Football Club, and receipt of an award of excellence bestowed on him by the State’s Ministry of Sports, said: “Peace in the region is always a process. There are issues to be discussed, issues to be thrashed out, and issues to be solved. And it is a honour for the region, that the Vice President found time to come out to the region to solve the issues”.

“The Elders have also gone down there to discuss. There are certain things you don’t hear about. We are peace loving people. And I am sure we will hear peaceful results very soon.
“The people must give the Federal Government a chance. Any leader requires the people to be patient, so as for a durable peace plan be initiated. President Buhari is out to solve some of the knotty issues. And I think time will tell.”
