The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has urged the United States of America, Israel and Russia to demand explanations from Nigeria, the alleged burning of their flags by security forces during the Donald Trump’s solidarity rally held last Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
IPOB had earlier claimed that 11 of its members were killed, scored wounded and over 100 arrested by security operatives during the peaceful protest which it organised in solidarity with the new US President, Trump.
A press statement issued yesterday by its Spokespersons, Emma Nmezu, and Clifford Iroanya, accused the security operatives of burning American, Israeli, and Russian flags they allegedly seized from its members during the rally.
“We call upon the Envoys of America, Russia, and Israel to demand explanations from Francis Odesanya why he resorted to burning the flags of their respective countries.”
IPOB also refuted claims by the Rivers Police Commissioner, Mr Francis Odesanya, that it did not obtain police permission for the rally, insisting that the police were duly notified and actually acknowledged the receipt of the notification letter.
The pro-Biafra group also accused the police boss of ordering his men to open fire on the unarmed protesters, and carting away the bodies of some victims.
