In our unbending desire to confirm the purported telephone conversation between Donald Trump with Mr. Buhari, we eventually this evening got a call through to Stephen K. Bannon, a White House Chief Strategist and our findings are that no such call took place between the president of the most powerful country in the world, the USA and the president of the most populous country in Africa.
It had been widely reported in the Nigerian media that there was actually telephone conversation between the two leaders.
Our team in our resolute bid to find out the truth had earlier today visited the US Embassy here in Paris and we were told point blank they are yet to be notified of such contacts between US and Nigeria.
As our curiosity continues, we eventually got a call through to the White House this evening and luckily got through to Stephen K. Bannon who did not mince words debunking the ''official'' rumour being circulated in Nigeria and Nigerian print and electronic media.
An obviously angry Bannon retorted on the phone that no such conversation took place and hung up unceremoniously.
His words, ''What is the hullabaloo about my boss calling your president? I don't know....., I don't, we are not aware if there was such arrangement and if a call like that was ever made, Trump did not tell me or anyone'', he hung up abruptly.
But back home, Presidency still insists with all the emphasis at its command that there actually a telephone conversation between the two leaders and that the conversation was, as a matter of fact, cordial thus leaving everyone in doubts.
