The senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, has urged Nigerians to dismiss speculations on the whereabouts of his principal.
According to him, Buhari is at the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom and not in a hospital or a secret location.
“I just spoke to the president’s personal doctor, and he told me President Buhari is not in any serious condition as to worry about,” Premium Times quoted him.
“He is not in hospital. He is in the residence at the Nigerian High Commission.”
He said Buhari was getting ready to return to Nigeria but some test results made him wait.
“He and his delegation were ready to come home today but for the delayed test result which came in today which necessitated that he delays his return.
“There is nothing to worry about as far as his condition is concerned.”
Femi Adesina, presidential adviser on media, yesterday released a statement, in which the President asked the National Assembly for an extension to his vacation.
The announcement sparked reactions nationwide with many citizens fearing that Buhari may be in a critical condition.
In June 2016, Buhari spent nearly two weeks in London last June for treatment for an ear infection.
The type of sickness he is currently treating is not known fuelling speculations of a terminal illness.
